We are supporting people in Bangladesh whose homes were destroyed by Cyclone Remal in May 2024. We are also working in the east of the country following recent flooding.

In the past we have responded to extreme floods and cyclones, and we have also supported people who fled to Bangladesh to escape violence in Myanmar. Read on to learn more about our work in Bangladesh.

Where is Bangladesh?

Bangladesh is a coastal country in southern Asia. It borders India in the north, west and north east. It also borders Myanmar in the south west. Nepal and Bhutan are close by to the north.

In the south Bangladesh borders the Bay of Bengal. A large portion of the country consists of the delta of the Ganges River. Its position on the coast and predominantly low-lying land leaves the country vulnerable to flooding.
